Tallinn: The Lennart Meri Tallinn International Airport

Tallinn is the capital city of Estonia on Baltic Sea. The city is a cultural hub and heart of medieval arts in Estonia as it still contained the cobbled streets, city walls, old town, cafes, shops, and alleyways. The downtown is spanned from the hills and still preserved the relics of the city wall. The city wall consists of green parks, ideal for a stroll around the Tallinn. Tallinn‘s old town is included in UNESCO World Heritage list in 1997. Ironically, new towns are sprawling on typical concrete style but still Tallinn has much to see and admire.

The transport system of Tallinn is well-developed with all the available options like land, water, and air traveling. Tallinn international airport is an outstanding mode of transport that is used in the city by locals and foreigners enormously. This airport is the largest airport in Estonia and a home of the national airline, Estonian Air. It remained open round the clock for domestic and international flights. The airport is located at 4 KM away from the city center of Tallinn on the embankment of Lake Ulemist.

Tallinn airport has a single runway that is 3070 meters long and 45 meters wide, big enough to handle all large size aircraft like Boeing 747. The airport contains five taxiways and 14 terminal gates for the convenience of passengers. Tallinn airport has been used for the military purpose as an interceptor aircraft base. The official name of Tallinn airport has changed into Lennart Meri Tallinn Airport which was given to the airport in the honor of independence movement leader of Estonia who was also the 2nd president of Estonia.

The Tallinn Airport has undergone many expansions plans which expanded its terminal in three different directions that results in 18 new gates of terminals, separate lounges for Schengen and non-Schengen passengers, 10 new check-in desks, a restaurant and a café. The gallery which was made to connect all gates has made the terminal building a T-shaped. Outside the terminal, a taxiway is also added under this expansion plan. The new terminal has increased the capacity of handling passengers twice as it could handle before. Book for Talinn airport taxi for safe and reliable transportation.
On the whole, Tallinn is a little city with rich and abundant fascinations and if you are heading towards it, Tallinn airport would be your first pleasant experience in this journey.
